Is there any railing in AC 19 that I can insert a custom made baluster. I made a nice one with morph and it's the embedded library. But none of the railings that I see in the AC19 library will accept the custom baluster.

It seems to me I recall a railing that would accept it in AC versions past.

thanks.

There are no specific tutorials (that I know of) to create parametric (stretchy) objects.
If you have a good understanding of how to script in GDL you shouldn't find it too hard.
If you are not familiar with GDL scripting then that is what you will need to learn.
There have been a few post here in the past listing good GDL resources to help you learn.
The GDL Cookbook by David Nicholson-Cole is still very good in my opinion (although a little dated now).
In fact it does have some examples of stretchy objects in 2D and 3D.

Here is a post that may have some helpful links.

Unfortunately objects don't have the option for overhead / uncut line types in the object settings.
Storey sensitivity has to be scripted into the object.
If this has been done then in the parameters (custom settings) you will find the options.
Like stairs allowing you to show and hide treads on different stories and changing their line types.
But if it hasn't been scripted in (and I am guessing it hasn't) then you are out of luck.

So it is either 2D line work in one of the stories or convert the object to a morph and then you will have the overhead / uncut line type control.

Barry.

how sad....back to resorting to 2D linework "ontop of" the 3D objects location....how very sad.

I tried your code with -check 9 on Mac, putting it into the Terminal.
It worked well and it put out a long set of error messages for a single object.

The 1st try did not work, because a file IDEntryList.dbe was missing, which I found on the hard drive (LibDevToolkit) and copied it into the XML folder; after that it worked.
In the converter documentation is written what this file is for.

very good now works!

Bim Components and GLOB_CONTEXT Deprecated

Now GLOB_CONTEXT is Deprecated.

When I download a 16 version on Bim Components it reports me:

Code:
WOPE 19.0.0 build 3003

What does it mean?
Now We can't download on BIM Compontens objects V16?
Now we can download only object v19 with GLOB_CONTEXT replaced with the new working command?
Or the problem is in the other reported "errors"?
What is the different among "warning" and "error"? What is fundamental?
Is the ancestor the subtype?
I'll continue to try to upload a new object empty with only GLOBAL_CONTEXT used.

In AC19 INT library some (not all) lamps have greyed options for selecting fill type, pen and background pen in floorplan. Is there any checkbox that I am missing or what? I have checked in AC18 and it works without any problems.

Merging an modified GDL with an existing AC file

Hello :
I've come across this problem quite ofter. Likely it's self-inflicted.

I have a document which contains a number of instances of a GDL part, call it Part 1. I add features to Part 1 and save it as Part 2. I do this because I need to keep the original in case the logic of the modificaiton is misconceive. When the upgrade is working, I replace Part 1 with the modified Part 2 and rename it Part 1

It seems reasonable to suppose the document would merely load Part 1 in the usual awy. However, when I open the document, it ignores Part 1 and instead ask for Part 2 which no longer exists.

How do I persuade the document to use the new version of the GDL?

Best Wishes : Hubert Wagner

yeah, like that. Is that railing a profile or object that you created yourself? Don't see that object in the standard library.

I checked the script of the Lamp object and this type of lamps does is not scripted in a way to display Fills in 2D so those Fill fields are always disabled.
Maybe it is because it is a ceiling lamp so you always have an overhead display mode.
By the way, this interface with these fields and options is a common interface for all Light types. Some use these Fill options, some don't.
But I think the interface in this case is deceiving because why is there a field there at all if you can never enable it? Just to tease you or irritate you?
I will forward this to GS for consideration and possible fixing.

Read through this article. It includes information about how GDL Objects are identified internally by ARCHICAD. Based on this you can formulate a method that works.:

http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/guides/gdl-guide-for-archicad-18/chapter-12-miscellaneous/basic-technical-standards/#Introduction

What I think is that you should not use the Save As command because at the moment the Main ID of the GDL Object will become different and from that point you will not be able to switch between the two version of the object.
Maybe what you should do is to save a copy of Part 1. Then rename it in the file system. I think the Main ID will not change if you rename it this way. Then you can modify the copy in another ARCHICAD instance. And if it works then you always link the copy you need. This way you don't need to change the placed instances from one to the other because in theory they will always use the loaded version (both versions have the same Main ID so they are considered versions of the same object by ARCHICAD). Of course you will have to try it but I think this could be a workable solution.
