Zone Occupancy Field

That is strange because in AC19 (US) it is "Area per Person in sq. ft". Perhaps it is a typo so it is meant to be "Area per Person in sq. m.". You would think the script is nearly identical except for the units.

Marcus,
If you are using the AUS version Archicad 19, the zone tool 'Zone_Stamp_1 19' has the Occupancy field "Area per Person in sq. meter", and I can enter decimal values with no trouble at all. I use this for child care centre calcs.

In the Window Schedule > Scheme Settings... > Criteria you'll need to add Element Type is Skylight. But the Skylight's Fields will not match the Window's Fields, so a separate Skylight Schedule may work better.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Skylighs are displayed on the Floor Plan according to the settings of their host Roof/Shell element. Go to the Roof/Shell Settings Dialog in the Floor Plan and Section panel experiment with the Show On Stories, Floor Plan Display and Show Projection Settings of the Roof/Shell. You can also play with the Home Story setting of the host Roof/Shell. You should be able to achieve the desired 2D representation on the various Stories.

Could you tell me the Top 5 reasons you refer to your previous program as Vector....? I am quite familiar with the program so I have my own opinions but I would be interested to hear your experiences. I suppose you have worked a lot with it in real-world scenarios.

Array fails to update

Yo all! Long time no post.

back again fiddling around with GDL and banging my head again.

I have made a nice simple tube object based on an array, each row of witch contains defining information: tube/or elbow/ extrusion, sweep, etc etc.
All hotspotted and nice and editable (handrails, grab-rails, rebar and hydraulics here I come!).

Except my code for adding and deleting segments does not work fully and its driving me crazy.

I have a flag in the array, position 5, if a particular hotspot is dragged beyond a threshold ahead of the segment, the flag is set to 2, behind the segment, 1. These are then used to run a "add segment" or a "delete segment" routine where the array is shuffled around, a default piece added or and existing segment deleted.

I am doing all of this checking and shuffling of the array in the Master script. While editing the object in 3d I can see the geometry update correctly, but I let go of the mouse button and it all goes back to the original geometry - like the array failed to update.
WHY??? Oh Why....?

The only way I can add or delete sections at the moment is by going into the information pallet and setting the flags in the array there. Then it sticks and the geometry updates fine.

Hoping someone else has slayed this very same dragon before.
gsm file atatched for poking at (and if you find it of use, have at it!)

I need to make some windows like this that Gang, show correctly in Plan view and be windows I can give an ID and schedule.

We have a 1/2 Arc Top Opening but not a 1/2 Arc Top window. ?

Can you make windows like the 1/2 Arc Top with Cadimage Tool ?

Well there Seneca that's a nice piece of code work.
Much more advanced than what I'm trying to achieve but clearly you understand how to capture user changes and update an array (if that's what you are using).

So do you have more to add than your youtube link?

Yes. That's how I made what I have. And it works for temporary elevations , but I want them to be real windows for the sake of matching how the manufacture will make them - and more importantly for my own window schedules. This is why I would like them to be fully functional windows.

The manufacture wants to make this assembly of three windows with 2 window types. It's the ones on the sides that I don't have as a library part for that will gang on the side with the center window. Notice that he does not have the radius matching the center window. yet.

I am trying to avoid the workarounds to get what I need from the windows in all of the places where they show up. Floor Plans, Interior and Exterior Elevations ( with correct shadows) , 3D views, and Schedules with annotated drawings. And I want them to be geocentrically correct and matching the manufactures windows as nearly as possible.

The workaround I am using which I am not entirely happy with is to use the openings that match the window shapes - we do have those in ArchiCAD - and place the modeled pseudo windows in the hole/holes. But there are still some places where this workaround is not entirely working. That is why I would like to use real windows that will gang together on the side.

The missing window - the one we don't have in the ArchiCAD library is the Half Arch Top with Casement below. Does anyone know of a Window like that? Perhaps in an older library or something ?

I will be able to devise some workaround but I would much rather have a Half Arch Top Casement below window if there is one.

I believe so but don't have a current copy to check; my last version was for AC 16 or so. You have to pay for compatibility with each new release of AC.

Yes. And at $29/mo or what ever it is now for the Cadimage Doors & Windows plug-in, that's $348/yr just to have in on the computer for the rare occasions when I need a special door or window I can't configure with the regular library parts. I think they are asking too much for the use of their plug-in. You do get two plug-ins for that price, but still I think it is too much.

Hi! I'm looking for an automatic numbering object that gives a consecutive numbering string - there was one in the Australian Essentials Library but it's not in any of the other libraries in the USA! Any advice as to where I can find it?

Thanks!

Came across a similar issue in a bunch of custom door objects I'd made.
Solved it by introducing a common 'dummy' parameter.
In this case it was a switch (boolean on/off) called 'update'.
Selected all the relevant objects, hit the switch - without altering any of their custom settings and the schedule updated fine.

Basically tricks archicad into reloading their parameters because something has changed.

I recently upgraded my Coverings & Cabinets to the full suite of 7 tools @ $50/mo. subscription, and I think $600/yr. isn't too much for these, if you actually use them. They fix so many of the issues that we've lived with in plain AC. I'd give them a good (free!) trial before you say that you'd only use them for a special door or window. The stair tool is amazing, as is Objective. I also really like the Electrical module with its ability to place outlets in both 3D & 2D at the same time. (Automatically adjusting to the orientation of the wall is nice, too.) If you do any custom cabinet design, the Cabinet module can do things the AC cabinets can't do. (e.g. automatically show hinging and shelving in elevations, or top-hinged doors). Then consider that with the Doors & Windows module, you only have ONE object to deal with, rather than trying to figure out which is the right one out of the many that the AC provides. Coverings is worth it for the gutters/downspouts alone. Any one thing maybe isn't earth-shattering, but I'd say that I definitely get my $50 value out of a month's use of the suite. And upgrades to the next version are included in the subscription. You can always stop and start the subscription, as well, if you find you aren't using it for awhile.
